You can research every supplement on the shelf. And still overlook the coffee you drink every morning.
Before you add another pill or powder to your kitchen counter, ask yourself this: what if the problem isn’t your body, your age, or your hormones, but the hidden saboteur sitting in your favourite mug?
You eat reasonably well.
You stay active.
You’re doing all the right things.
And still, your energy seems to have gone for a walk without you.
If your cupboard contains a powder for every week day, minerals bought after late-night research, and a supplement that turned out to be “snake oil”, you’re not alone.
Life hasn’t slowed down. There are lifts to give, appointments to remember, and work to finish. Things you once did automatically now require effort.
There's this thought you can’t quite shake:
"I just don’t feel like myself."
So you add another capsule. Another scoop. Another quick “fix”.
But your morning coffee?
That barely gets a second look.
Which is strange. The powders come and go. The coffee is there every morning.
It used to be a small, uncomplicated happiness: the smell, the first sip, and ten quiet minutes before the day began.
You still want the ritual. But not the jitters, the brain fog, the feeling like you're borrowing energy from your future self.
So perhaps you're only drinking in the morning, or have cut it down to one cup, or decided to give it up entirely. But have you thought...
What if the problem isn’t your body?
What if it isn’t perimenopause, your hormones, or “just getting older”?
What if it’s the quiet, hidden sabotage sitting in your mug every single morning?
You see, we blame our bodies for the jitters and the energy crashes. Yet we don't stop to ask what mass-processed coffee is actually doing to our nervous system.
It wasn’t starting a coffee company with Alex, my husband of 25 years, that made realise this.
My friend Emma did.
One evening, I found a bag of our coffee hidden at the back of her kitchen cupboard (I had no idea she bought from my business.)
I asked why she’d secretly bought it without telling me.
Her answer had nothing to do with coffee. And everything to do with why we're all so exhausted
She wasn't just buying a drink. She was trying to rescue her morning.
What Emma told me wasn't a product review. It was a confession.
Her youngest daughter had just gone off to university, leaving her and her husband. Life was supposed to be simpler now...
Yet she felt bone tired. Sleepless, hot nights. Words disappearing halfway through sentences. Running out of steam by 2pm.
Like so many of us, Emma was tired of being burned by over-hyped wellness trends.
So when she spotted my coffee company, Exhale, being recommended by a nutritionist Emma trusted, she didn't just thoughtlessly buy.
She read our sourcing practices, checked our lab certificates, and reviewed the clinical studies.
Only then did she quietly order a bag.
Emma didn't want a miracle cure. She just wanted a cup of coffee she could trust.
Changing her coffee didn’t magically change her life. But Emma's mornings felt like hers again.
The hot nights were still hot.
The difficult afternoons were still difficult.
But one familiar part of her morning no longer felt like another gamble with her nervous system.

"I’m loving the whole routine of making [Exhale] with an AeroPress and then sitting chilling for ten minutes to drink it"
Sonya · Verified Trustpilot review
She’d come to accept that coffee meant a heavy, bitter aftertaste and a spike of anxiety.
Exhale was completely different: light, clean, and grounding. Instead of borrowing energy from her future self, her focus stayed steady all day.
It wasn't a magic wand for her life.
Yet when your body already feels unpredictable, having one less thing to worry about is massive.
It also left us both with a much bigger question...
If coffee is simply beans and water, why can two bags feel so different?
The answer wasn’t printed on a packet.
It lay in everything supermarket brands leave out, and everything Alex and I spent years investigating before launching Exhale...
We tested 45 coffees, audited seven leading UK importers, sent off coffee to nine independent laboratory tests across Europe.
Two bags can look identical on the shelf. What happens inside your body when you drink them is night and day.
Coffee had already become deeply personal for us. Alex’s long health journey showed us how quickly "wellness" can turn into a mountain of restrictions, expensive supplements, and daily anxiety.
We didn’t want to invent another fad.
We wanted to see how much difference extreme care could make to something people already loved.
So we put in the legwork, tracing coffee from the cup to the roaster, from the roaster to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to the farm.
And found five stages where standard coffee loses its balance:
What a pack won't tell you
Is that too much focus on a single coffee bean?
I'd say no.
When something forms part of your morning every single day, "everyday" shouldn't mean "taken for granted."
Nine independent laboratory tests. Results you can actually trust.
We didn't run lab tests to collect an impressive-sounding badge. We wanted hard data we could publish.
Independent lab testing confirms Exhale is screened with zero moulds, mycotoxins, pesticides, or heavy metals.
The tests also measured what careful sourcing and roasting leaves in:

Our certificates are open for anyone to inspect online. That mattered to Emma, and it might matter to you too. So feel free to read them here.
Still, a lab report can’t tell you what coffee feels like at 7am.

You asked, we answered
Is Exhale instant coffee, do I need a coffee machine?
Exhale needs brewing in something like a cafetiere, AeroPress, espresso machine or dripper etc.
It's well worth the effort though!
Read our article to learn how to brew the perfect coffee.
Studies have linked instant coffee to 4 times the amount of mould/mycotoxins on average: read our article reviewing the latest research.
Will Exhale definitely stop my jitters?
Everybody responds to caffeine differently, so no caffeinated coffee can promise that. A lot of our customers describe fewer jitters or smoother energy (check the reviews above!), but your experience is what matters. You can also choose Decaf or combine regular and Decaf to make half-caff.
Do you add anything to Exhale?
No. Exhale is 100% Arabica coffee, with no added mushrooms, vitamin powders, flavourings or supplements.
A good quality coffee that's been treated right is as healthy as any other 'superfood' on the planet, that's what we believe anyway.
There's a modern trend towards taking poor quality ingredients (such as instant coffee, read our blog on that here) and adding the latest fad to make it 'healthy' again.
We instead took the care to (obsessively) look after every stage from farm to cup and work with the wonderful things naturally in our coffee already.
It definitely wasn't the easiest option, but it's what matters to us.
Is Exhale a treatment for perimenopause or menopause?
Afraid not. Exhale is organic, speciality-grade coffee that's absolutely delicious and free from nasties... but not a treatment for perimenopause or menopause.
We hope it can make one small part of your morning feel more enjoyable, but it isn’t intended to treat or relieve hormonal symptoms.
What does Exhale test for and can I see the results?
Independent laboratory testing includes pesticides, heavy metals, moulds and yeasts, the mycotoxins Ochratoxin A and Aflatoxins, chlorogenic acids and the antioxidant capacity of the brewed coffee.
Our available laboratory certificates and organic certification are published online here. Our team can also provide certificates for specific coffees on request.
